The Dragons of the Spectrum is a social skills program which combines social skills development with an original tabletop role-playing game.

The DOTS Programs

The Dragons of the Spectrum and Dragons of the Spectrum PLUS are two interconnected social skills programs designed to support the development of social communication, emotional regulation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in neurodivergent children and young people through structured, tabletop role-playing game–based experiences.

The DOTS Program

In the Dragons of the Spectrum Social Skills Program,
group members:

- Create their own fantastical character

- Learn important social skills

- Work together as a member of an adventuring party

- Explore the world of Adelarn through weekly adventures

- Level up, becoming more powerful adventurers

- Become the hero of their very own story

The DOTS+ Program

In the Dragons of the Spectrum PLUS Program, group members:

- Learn to be a Game Master

- Create their own original stories

- Design enemies and friendly characters

- Learn a range of more complex social skills

- Lead the group on their own adventure

- Engage in structured self-reflection tasks​

Who We Are

The Dragons of the Spectrum programs were created by Will Ellison (Clinical Psychologist) through the Social Play Academy. Will started the Social Play Academy with the sole focus of finding more effective and fun ways of developing social skills in children and teenagers.​
